Finding things near you
The Home tab shows businesses within a set distance of you, closest first. Use the funnel icon to change that radius, filter by category, or sort by rating instead of distance.
The search bar understands plain English — try "fresh bread" or "someone to fix a bike" rather than guessing at category names. Tap Map View to see everything laid out geographically instead of as a list.
Tap the heart on any business to save it to Favorites, which sits at the top of your Home tab for quick access.
Listing your business
Anything you can offer a neighbour works here — a home bakery, a side skill, tutoring, or tools sitting in your garage that someone could borrow. Go to Profile → Your Listings → Become a Seller to create your first one. You can run up to five.
Writing a listing that gets messages
- Be specific in your description. "Sourdough baked fresh on weekends, orders by Friday" tells a neighbour far more than "home bakery."
- Add photos. Listings with real photos of the actual product get noticeably more interest than ones without.
- Fill in Offerings and Availability. These answer the two questions buyers ask most, before they have to message you.
- Pricing is optional and free-text — a range like "$5–8 a loaf" is fine if you don't have fixed prices.
Your location and privacy
You are never required to show your exact address. By default your listing shows an approximate area rather than your doorstep, so neighbours can tell you're nearby without knowing precisely where you live.
If you'd rather share your exact spot — useful for a storefront or a market stall — you can turn that on when creating or editing the listing. You can also share your exact location with one specific buyer inside a chat, without changing it for everyone else.
On the go? If you run a food truck or a stall that moves around, pick one of the On-the-Go categories and you can set a schedule of dates and locations in advance. On days with nothing scheduled, you choose whether to show at your default location or hide from the feed entirely.
Managing a listing
Everything lives under Profile → Your Listings. Tap a business to expand it, where you can edit details, manage photos, update your location, and see your ratings.
Toggling Business Active off hides a listing from the feed without deleting it — good for a break or a busy season. Deleting it is permanent and also removes its photos and reviews.
Messaging & saved replies
Buyers message you directly through the app; nothing goes through a middleman. If you'd rather not take messages on a particular listing — say it's a market stall where you'd rather people just turn up — you can switch off Accept Messages for that business alone.
If you find yourself typing the same answers repeatedly, set up Profile → Saved Replies. You can save up to five common responses, and they appear as one-tap chips above the message box in every chat about any of your businesses. Tapping one fills in the message so you can tweak it before sending.
Staying safe
NeighbourGood connects you with people nearby who you may not know. A few habits worth keeping:
- Meet in a busy, well-lit public place where you can.
- Tell someone where you're going and when you expect to be back.
- Inspect an item before paying for it.
- Never share card details, banking logins, or one-time passcodes in a chat — no legitimate buyer or seller needs them.
- Trust your instincts and walk away if something feels off.

Notifications
Under Profile → Notifications you control what reaches you. Push notifications cover new messages and new ratings on your listings.
New Listings Near You is separate and off by default — switch it on to hear about new businesses as neighbours list them in your area.
